Eat Less Move More

After years and years of joining and rejoining Slimming World I have finally had a wee light bulb moment. Well, if I am honest I have known all this years ago but never fully let it absorb. All I need to do to lose weight is EAT LESS AND MOVE MORE. Simple eh??

Slimming World is a fabulous plan, you can eat unlimited foods like fruit, veg, lean meats, etc which is ace,but for me, it has taught me to binge on all the before mentioned food to excess. Now it makes sense, how can you lose weight eating unlimited Chicken? Ham? Baked Tatties?

It is scientifically proven that the only way you can lose weight is to have a calorie deficit. calorie deficit is a state in which you burn more calories than you consume.  For me, hope this teaches me portion control and a better insight into sensible eating for the rest of my life.

So I got myself My Fitness Pal on my phone and I weighed myself. I used a couple of sources based on my BMI to figure out what my calorie deficit would be. So between my fitness pal, NHS and a general tracker I aim to sit between 1500 and 1700 daily.  My Fitbit works out how much calories I have expended in steps but I don't intend to add them on to my daily allowance but it may allow me a wee safety buffer.

I plan to start C25k today on the treadmill again in the garage and I have 2 Zumba classes booked in for this week. That along with 4 day shifts on the acute ward I work on will see me good for exercise.

It was nice today to plan my meals not based on slimming world but on what I fancied. I will also buy some smaller plates as you eat with your eyes they say, and always looks more on a smaller plate as the pic shows.

I am currently reading a good book. A how to lose weight book that talks simple sence. I am enjoying it as will do a full review of it once I complete it. Its called 101 ways to lose weight and never find it again by Scott Baptie a local to my area guy.

My friend at work rejoined slimming world the day after I started this so it will be interesting to see the results over the next few months and year. Its not a race or a challenge but just to see what works best short term and over a longer term.
Whatever happens, I am sure I will be blogging about it along the way.
